His Holiness Metropolitan Bishop Afanasy (1825 - 1905)
His Holiness Afanasy ( Agghey Feodorovich Makurov) – was the third Metropolitan of White Well. For many years, he has been a parish priest in Braila.
On 3rd June 1871, he was anointed Bishop for Braila, by Bishop Cyril, and later on 9th May 1874 he was ordained Metropolitan Bishop.
He lived 80 years, and was Bishop for 32 years. He died on 1st September 1905, and was buried at White Well.
